CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION

Conflict is normal. It can't be avoided. What we CAN do is own our actions, acknowledge their impact on others, honor our dignity, and seek to repair harm. As a certified Conflict Mediator and Restorative Circle-Keeper, I work with individuals, families, school communities and teams to build deeper connections and resolve conflicts.

  • Compassion transforms conflict. Practice self-compassion and empathy.

  • Own your actions honestly.

  • Notice your needs in this moment.

  • Feelings point to needs being met or unmet.

  • Listen deeply to yourself and to others.

  • Impact- acknowledge the impact of your actions on others.

  • Communicate bravely-our vulnerability connects us more deeply to others.

KK PEABODY

Certified Conflict Mediator

Restorative Circle-Keeper
Founder, Boys Adventure Circles

There are steps we can take to transform conflict and heal harm. Thankfully, these tools honor our dignity, build deeper connect, and allow us to communicate more effectivelyTogether, we build meaningful connections to transform conflicts compassionately.  When we process conflict properly, it can actually bring us closer.

Experience:

As a Certified Conflict Mediator and Restorative Circle-Keeper, I work with families, school communities and workplace teams to build meaningful connections and resolve conflicts compassionately. I implement restorative practices such as conflict coaching, mediation, conflict transformation training and Restorative Circles.  I have experience working with families and communities who have suffered loss.

Conflict is never just about concrete issues we see. Restorative practices help uncover the relational, emotional and energetic elements which also exist within a conflict.

To that end, I have designed and presented in-school programs for team building, conflict resolution, empathy, as well as Restorative Circle training for faculty and students within independent schools.  I work with division heads, diversity, equity & belonging teams, school psychologists, teachers, parents, athletic teams and arts organizations.  I do Conflict Resolution training and workshops for teachers and schools, as well as organizations including CSEE www.csee.org.

When we can incorporate physical movement into this conflict transformation work outcomes are more profound, especially for children.  I've run such Adventure Circles in schools, and with Boys Adventure Circles www.boysadventurecircle.com, a program I co-founded in 2017, which combines movement exercises and restorative circle discussions to develop emotional fluency, empathy and compassion skills for boys.
